Investigating Growth of Gold Nanorods by Simultaneous Small‐Angle X‐Ray and Neutron Scattering

Increased usage of gold nanorods (AuNRs) in various biosensing and medical applications requires tight size morphology control. This is often achieved by tuning the aggregation behavior stabilizing ligand cetrimonium bromide (CTAB). Because role CTAB during AuNR growth still a matter debate, simultaneous small-angle X-ray neutron scattering experiments (SAXS/SANS) measurements are performed. The SAXS/SANS have enabled an instantaneous correlation between evolving nanostructure guiding moieties. Upon modifying micelles adding hexanol or pentanol as inert additives precursor solution, marked change reaction kinetics observed. Alcohol-modified nanostructures improved uniformity compared to those prepared alcohol-free solutions, which attributed different modes. linked changed stabilization mechanism reactants nascent facilitated micelles.
